Given the choice of two sites, a colleague and myself decided to combine our efforts to create a cohesive building that was split by Wazee Street in the historic LoDo district of downtown Denver. With the major pedestrian access of 16th street and the historic intersection of Wazee Street; this site required an understanding and development of concept, context, and content. The form of the structure is created by extending the pedestrian path of 16th Street into the building by creating one indoor and one outdoor public space at the corner of each building. This play on 'yin' and 'yang' was brought throughout the program and structure of the building; where the buildings responded differently to site and program, but could not exist without one another.
